Staff Report, on November 12, 2007
Wayne (Foster) Clark

April 20, 2007

Wayne (Foster) Clark was born on Aug. 31, 1911 in Goforth, Texas. As a child she grew up in Goforth on a farm in a house without electricity or running water. She died April 20, 2007 at her home in Buda. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

In 1841, the P. Allen Family (her grandparents) was one of the first settlers in Hays County east of Onion Creek. Wayne graduated from Goforth School in 1930. She was married April 15, 1936 to Cecil M. Clark in Kyle. Early in their marriage they lived in Goforth and had their son. They moved to Austin for a few years where they had their daughter. In 1945, they moved to Buda where they have lived for more than 60 years. Their home was featured in a 1994 calendar, “Historic Places in Buda.” In 1947, they started a business, “Clarks Grocery and Market” and ran the store for more than 20 years.

She loved to sew, to garden, to play “84” with dominoes and visit with friends and family. She loved nature. In the summer, there was a rare day that you did not see them sitting in the yard or on the porch in the swing just enjoying the beauty of nature. Wayne devoted herself to her family and took care of many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren for whom she was known simply as “Meme.”

All of those that knew her feel so blessed to have known such a great woman. She was the epitome of generosity, unselfishness and an idol to us all. She has touched the life of so many and will be deeply missed, but will forever live in our hearts. She is survived by her husband, Cecil M. Clark; son, Cecil A. Clark and daughter-in-law, Shirley; daughter, Bobbie J. Kasper all of Buda; eight grandchildren: Debbie, Donna, Elizabeth, Dena, Sammy, Marty, Willie, Sarah; 23 great-grandchildren: Lexi, Allen Ty, Clint, Kimberly, Dustin, Melissa, Kayla, Trey, Misty, Steven, Matt, Kori, Kamri, Dylan, Jessica, Victoria, Samantha, Preston, Brooke, Wesley, Kaleb, Madalyn; eight great-great-grandchilren: Rylee, Tyler, Hayden, Madison, Aubrey, Jordan, CR, Ryan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Frannie Bell; father, Dennis Foster; five brothers: Worth, Willard, Sybil, Leslie, J.D., Jr.; four sisters: Fern, Jodie, Geneva, Verna; two grandchildren, Allan and Jowayne and one great-grandchild, Cliff.

The memorial service to honor Wayne was held Monday, April 23 at the Methodist Church in Buda, Texas with the burial following at Live Oak Cemetery in Manchaca, Texas. The family wishes to thank Angel Heart Hospice and a special “thank you” to Ken and Mary Jane.
