She graduated from Austin High School and then the University of Texas in 1957.

Mary Sue was a wonderful and beloved teacher in the Austin School System for 28 years, where she touched the lives of thousands of students and strived to make learning fun. After retiring she was a part-time employee of the IRS.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jack Lyle of Driftwood; daughter, LoAnne Lyle of Driftwood; daughter and son-in-law, Lura and Rodney Stovall of The Colony, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Trent and Natalie Lyle of Burnet; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Tricia Young of El Largo, Texas; grandchildren, Sarah, Lyle, Jackson, Gabe, Connor and Ava; as well as many other loving family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Robert and David Young.

Mary Sue was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Dripping Springs. She was very active in the community and at Camp Ben McCulloch and has many loving family and friends in Central Texas.

The family wishes to express their profound gratitude to Mary Sue’s oncologist, Dr. Loukas, the staff at Texas Oncology; the 7th floor staff at Seton Hospital and the staff at Stonebridge Health Center.

A memorial service was held Saturday, February 6, at United Methodist Church in Dripping Springs. Contributions in Mary Sue’s name to the First Baptist Church building fund, P. O. Box 1177, Dripping Springs, 78620, will be greatly appreciated
