Buda Elementary book club shares ‘Three Cups of Tea’

Odds & Ends
by MYRTLE HEIDEMAN

What a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Almost makes you want to go outside and wash windows. Who am I kidding? Anything but that!

Monday was the 22nd of Feb. If my father were still here and the soil was dry enough, he would hitch Kate and Beck (his mules) to the one row planter and plant the corn. Can you imagine how long it would take to plant the acreage that’s planted now with the one row planter, pulled by mules?

Sorry to report that Jean Collier was unable to come home after a stay in the hospital. She was transferred to a rehab facility in Austin. We wish her well.

Our council for St. John Lutheran Church is as follows: Charlie Orn, president; Danny Kleen, vice president; Barbara Hanna, secretary, David Avalos, treasurer; Steve Jones, financial secretary; Ron Salewsky, worship co-ordinator and Hulda Wisian, altar chairperson. We welcome them and thank the outgoing council for a job well done.

All the ladies of St. John are reminded that the Women’s Guild meeting will be on Sat., March 6 in the home of Vicki Schawe. Please bring your favorite dish to share for lunch at noon. Also have you started on your lap robes? The Guild is making some to take to nursing homes. Don’t forget your donations for the food basket.

It’s always nice to have company, but when they bring their lunch to share, its really nice. Clarence Heideman and his sister Adelene Wisian shared pizza with Raymond and Myrtle Heideman last Tues. Joining them were Daniel and Sharon Heideman for the pizza and salad lunch. Clarence, who is a wood carver, spent the afternoon working on his project. Danny and Sharon left to go back to work and the rest visited after taking a nap.

Terry Kleen spent Wed. afternoon visiting with Raymond and Myrtle (Dad and Mom). Terry and husband Rickie visited with Rickie’s mom, Betty Kleen on Wed. morning. Betty resides at Deer Creek in Wimberley.

I sure could use more news of events or happenings. Raymond and I are unable to attend meetings, celebrations, etc., so please call me at 512-398-3800. Thanks.
