A deadly conduct charge has been filed on the driver of a car who police say intentionally collided with a motorcycle in a construction zone along Interstate 35 in Buda.
An arrest warrant for Jacob Robert Saucedo, 19, of Kyle, was issued Wednesday after Buda police charged him with the Class A misdemeanor following the incident.
On Feb. 17 at about 6:30 p.m., Saucedo was driving a Plymouth Neon northbound along Interstate 35 between exits 218 and 219 when he unsafely changed lanes, cutting off a Harley Davidson motorcycle ridden by Kyle resident Harold Kent Beam, according to an affidavit used to secure an arrest warrant.
Beam, 47, stated that he pointed to himself and mouthed to Saucedo, “Did you see me?” Saucedo said that he believed Beam gave him the middle finger. The motorcycle changed lanes to pass the car but Saucedo swerved into the lane and slammed his brakes, causing the motorcycle to hit the rear of his car, said the affidavit written by Buda police officer Patrick Cheatham.
After the collision, the motorcycle tipped on its side and slid across all three lanes, striking a retaining wall along the outside lane. When police arrived, Beam was resting on the retaining wall with injuries including a broken bone protruding from his right leg.
The affidavit also says that witnesses saw Saucedo’s car change lanes and brake hard. Beam was transported to Brackenridge Hospital in Austin where his condition was unknown.
