The 17th annual Country Fair and Wiener Dog Races last weekend must have set a record as one of the hottest two-day events in Buda. With the sun beating down, crowds of folks cheered the many little doggies running races, took part in the other activities.
Our thanks to the men and women of the Buda Lions Club for providing such a great event for the many non-profit organizations to add to their bank account. Hopefully the Lions Club also made a profit since all its funds are given out to many local groups.
When you see a member of the Lions Club, remember to say “thank you” for all their hard work. Even better, talk to them about joining and offering your help at the 18th Country Fair and Wiener Dog Races!
Donna Sinner, treasurer for Onion Creek Senior Citizens, reported that the “tea and lemonade” booth grossed $4,310 for the two-day event in the park.

Buda was represented again this year at the Boston Marathon held on Monday, April 21, by James Hill and Maria Hermon. Hill finished the 26.1-mile race with a time of 4:01:21 (pretty good for a 74 year-old). Hermon’s time was 4:09:29. Congratulations.
