Kyle mom, kids found safe after being in ‘grave’ danger after abduction

By Andy Sevilla

A mother and her two kids were found safe almost three hours after they were believed to be in “grave and immediate danger” following an alleged abduction from their Kyle home Tuesday.

The woman’s estranged husband, Romero Garcia, 28, is believed to have kidnapped the woman and children at about noon Tuesday from their home in the 500 block of Cresthill Causeway in Kyle, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office said.

About half-an-hour after Hays County Sheriff’s officials put out a statement reporting the alleged kidnapping and describing the vehicle used in the matter, Garcia was arrested about 22 miles from the Laredo/Mexico border.

The Webb County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Garcia at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. He was believed to be fleeing the state and heading into Mexico, the Hays Sheriff’s Office said.

Orbelia Jaimes, 27, and her two kids, Ramiro Yahir Garcia, 4, and Marbella Garcia, 2, were found safe and unharmed, the sheriff’s office reported.

Authorities said in their initial statement the suspect and family were last seen in a 2007 blue Ford Explorer with a tan stripe on the bottom.

The suspect has no previous criminal history in Hays County, according to an online check of Hays County records.
