It’s time for the 9th annual Buda VoAg Booster Club Dinner & Dance fund-raiser. The event will be Saturday, Aug. 9 from 6 p.m. until midnight at the Painted Horse Pavilion on FM 1626. There will be a live and silent auction, BBQ meal catered by Wilhite’s and music by the Sam Bentley Band. Tickets available at the door.
Also time to think about donating backpacks for “back to school” for children in need. Texas Advocacy Project, a free, statewide legal service for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, is collecting new backpacks for domestic violence shelters. Drop off backpacks in Buda at Old Main Street Station at the corner of Main & RR 967, The Jumpy Place in Kyle and New Braunfels or downtown on the square in San Marcos at the office of Allstate Chandler Insurance Group.

Visit downtown Buda for “first Thursday” of the month activities that start at 5 p.m. on Aug. 7. The mini Kona Ice truck will be set up in front of the shops at Main and RR 967 and there will be in-house specials at some of the shops along with refreshments, entertainment and good food at the various restaurants.
