Thomas “Tom” Edward Staudt (1951-2014)

Thomas “Tom” Edward Staudt of Fredericksburg passed away on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at the age of 62 years.

Thomas Edward Staudt was born on Sept. 16, 1951, in San Benito, Texas to Clemens Joseph and Marine Hodges Staudt. He married Sally Marie Haas on Dec.  23, 1970, in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Harlingen, Texas.

Mr. Staudt also served in the U.S. Navy from 1970 to 1974.

He is survived by his wife, Sally Marie Haas Staudt, of Fredericksburg, two daughters, one son and spouses: Sam and Kristin Staudt of Kyle, April Staudt of Fredericksburg, Amanda and Martin Hodo of Schertz, seven grandchildren: Jarrod and Jacob Staudt, Miriam and Glen Staudt, Paul, Audrey and Lillian Hodo, two sisters and spouses: Sandra and Marion Staton of Harlingen, Dari Gale and Earl Adams of Harlingen, and mother-in-law, Gail Haas of Fredericksburg.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Glen W. Haas.

The body will lay in state in the chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home in Fredericksburg until 9:45 a.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 13 with a Mass of Resurrection at 10 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church which the Msgr. Enda McKenna officiated.

Graveside services and interment followed in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Tom’s memory can be made to the American Brain Tumor Association, National Brain Tumor Society, Hill Country Memorial Hospice, St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund or to the charity of your choice.

A vigil service will be held on Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. in the chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home, Fredericksburg.

Visitation took place from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12 and again from 7-9:45 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, in the chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home, Fredericksburg.
