The food at Los Vega was what kept people coming back and back, in spite of the pretty cramped space. The only thing lacking was homemade tortillas, but the great food made up for that travesty. Everything I ever ate there was excellent, so we were totally bummed when it closed.
As soon as I heard it was reopened, we beat it over there to see if it was like old times. Hallelujah! The menu items appeared unchanged, so I had the Chicken Móle plate to celebrate – and was greatly relieved to find it was as it always had been … perfecto.
I read last week’s story about the new owners. I can only say that I hope they’re smart enough to not change too much about the menu and the recipes. The seating accommodations in the restaurant haven’t changed a whole lot – there’s only so much you can do with a small house that’s been converted to a restaurant. Good food is the only thing that place had ever had going for it. My advice to them would be to don’t go changing it.
