Staff Report on September 19, 2014
Rejoicing in renovations

The First Buda Baptist Church was a frame structure that was built near the Buda School and served the community from 1897 until 1948. The property was sold to the Buda Rural High School District on Nov. 3, 1948 and the church along with the tabernacle was torn down. In 1949 the members of the Baptist church built a modern rock building at the corner of Peach and San Marcos Streets. Since that time, there have been additional buildings built for the church.

Today the First Baptist Church of Buda has completed their newly renovated and updated worship area and educational space and has proudly announced their special celebration.

Worship service will be at 10:45 a.m. this Sunday, Sept. 21. There will be singing and music along with special guest and following the service there will be a buffet luncheon. Pastor Buddy Johnson invites the community to come and be a part of this exciting time for the First Baptist Church. The church is located at 104 South San Marcos Street.

Birthday wishes go out to Deborah Lake and Sarah Duke on Sept. 18; Jack Haberer on Sept. 19; Jim Fletcher, Perry Heath, Helen Hawkins and Allen Watson on Sept. 20; Faye Fletcher on Sept. 21; Jack Burke and John Marquess on Sept. 22; Craig Smith on Sept. 23; and Marv Purvis on Sept. 24.

Anniversary wishes to Julie and Dane Gibbs on Sept. 21.
