Boo-da is back

By Sandra Grizzle

Happy Birthday to Cecil Clark! Clark, a resident of Buda, will be 102 years old on Friday, Oct. 24. Clark can always be found at the Onion Creek Senior Activity Center playing a game of “42” where he is usually the winner. You can also bet that he will be in his deer stand on the first day of deer season AND he always gets his buck.

Special birthday wishes go out to Genevieve Beard on Saturday, Oct. 25, when she will celebrate her 93rd birthday. More wishes go Caryl Ploen on Oct. 24; Rebecca Hatch and Bob Lowden on Oct. 25; Terri Johnson on Oct. 26; Allexis Hinkley, Carroll (Digger) Odell on Oct. 28.

Dress the kids up in their best Halloween costume and come to downtown Buda on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 5 until 7 p.m. for the 12th annual Boo-Da Halloween. Local merchants will hand out treats in front of their shops and other businesses will set up on the greenbelt. The Buda Public Library will have arts and crafts, face painting, games and Halloween stories. For the safety of everyone, downtown Main Street will be closed for this event.

Our local dental office is also having another annual tradition, “buy back” of candy. The Buda Professional Dental office will buy back candy on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 10 am until 2 pm. Stop by the dental office and get paid for your collection of treats.

The Onion Creek Senior Citizens, along with the Buda Bees, would like to help you get in the Christmas spirit early by inviting the public to attend the free two-day Quilt Show and Christmas Bazaar at their activity center at 420 Bartons Crossing in Buda. The event will open on Friday, Nov. 7, from 10 am until 6 pm and on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 9 am until 4 pm. There will also be a silent auction and baked items for sale. Raffle tickets can be purchased for the quilt that will be given away on Sun., Dec. 7 at BudaFest. Breakfast tacos will be served in the mornings and a soup/sandwich lunch will be available along with desserts and drinks
