Staff Report on November 6, 2014
School Briefs: Nov. 5, 2014

Hays Education Foundation sparkles this month

Denim & Diamonds, the annual fundraising gala for the Hays CISD Education Foundation, is just around the corner. The evening includes live and silent auctions, live music, food and desserts catered by Lehman High School’s culinary students. This year’s event will feature a karaoke contest to raise additional funds. There is also a raffle where you can purchase chances to win a half-carat diamond. The Foundation has given more than $1 million to the students and teachers of Hays CISD since its inception in 1998. The 2014 Denim & Diamonds takes place from 6-11 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Texas Disposal System Exotic Game Ranch. Visit http://haysef.com/dd-tickets/ to learn more and purchase tickets.

Middle School Parent Event: Girl Talk/Boy Talk

Conversations with teens about sexuality can be hard to start. Get that conversation started with accurate and appropriate information provided by a special panel of experts at two upcoming evening events. Be prepared with any questions from you or your teen. Questions can be texted anonymously on the night of the event. Students may come if accompanied by either or both parents or a trusted adult. Girl Talk is scheduled for Nov. 12, Boy Talk is Nov. 19. Both events take place beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center. For more information, contact Katie Campbell, program coordinator for Hays CISD Pregnancy, Education, and Parenting Program at 512-268-8454 x 8622.

Upcoming school board meetings

The Hays CISD Board of Trustees has two meetings each month. The Agenda Workshop takes place Nov. 10 and the Business Meeting takes place Nov. 17. Both meetings take place at Hays High School in the Career and Technology Annex. Visit www.hayscisd.net to learn more and find the meeting agendas and minutes.
