Staff Report on April 2, 2015
Jack Benard Turner (1930-2015)

Jack Benard Turner, a resident of Kyle, TX, passed away March 30, 2015, at the age of 84.  He was born November 17, 1930, the 13th child of Jess E. Turner and Mary Ada Berry Turner.  He married his wife, Myrtle Lea Kelly on March 9, 1957 in Hamilton, TX.  He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1949-1953.  He was stationed with occupation forces in Germany and served overseas in England.  He is a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, eight sisters and four brothers, Mae and husband Delbert Stevens; Minnie and Lonnie Whitmire; Myrtle Bryant; Bessie and Robert Sittre; Johnnie and A. T. Hull; Thelma and Joe Scott; Lois and Bill Weiss; Elsie Wheeler; Loyd and Ruby Turner; Roy and Mae Turner; James Turner; Leonard Turner; nine nephews and three nieces.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Myrtle Kelly Turner; a daughter, Ruth Ann and husband Larry Lyday, of Celeste, TX; and, two sons, Jeff Turner and wife Terri of Uhland, TX; and Kelly Turner and wife Gina of Mt. Union, IA.  He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Dorla Turner of Fillmore, CA and Alice Turner of Kempner, TX; eight nephews and nine nieces; 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday, April 2 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Thomason Funeral Home, 2001 Old Ranch Road 12, San Marcos.  Funeral services will be held Friday, April 3 at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church.  Rev. Dennis Spire will officiate.  Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 1906 N. IH 35, San Marcos, TX  78666.  Funeral arrangements entrusted to Thomason Funeral Home, 512-396-2300.  Please sign the guest registry at www.thomasonfuneralhome.com
