Staff Report on June 3, 2015
Drew William Campbell (1982-2015)

Born 28 April 1982, Drew William Campbell passed away in his sleep on May 30, 2015. A memorial service will be held in his honor on Friday, June 5, 2015, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 120 Suncrest St., San Marcos Texas.

Drew was blessed with a quick and clever wit. He was a devout practitioner of the ancient forms of the Sarcasm Arts. Ironically, he was unfailingly kind and generous. He loved exploring nature and caring for Nature’s creations.

After some ‘interesting’ forays into the world of athletics, Drew was fortunate to find his true calling in music. A talented drummer, he loved his time playing with Rivertrain, Susan Gibson, Zack Walther, and Bart Crow Band among others.

The wild and wooly party ended when he fell in love with Courtney Conn. They were married in 2008. She made every effort to tame him and he eventually got a grown-up job as a schoolteacher.

He spent the last several years as a middle school science teacher at James E. Pearce College Preparatory Academy and Gus Garcia Young Men Leadership Academy. He loved teaching almost as much as he loved the students that spent their days in his classroom.

The joys of his life are his son, Coen and his daughter, Scout. They brought brightness to his eyes and a smile to his face.

Drew is survived by his wife Courtney Campbell and two children Coen and Scout Campbell; his parents Craig and Donna Campbell; sisters Charlotte Massey and Maile Campbell; brothers David Locke, Brad Campbell, Scott Campbell, Doug Campbell and Ben Campbell: numerous in laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, and an unending number of friends.
