Fueling up for healthy changes

Staff Report

Elm Grove Elementary Fueluptoplay60 Leaders, along with their Student Advisor and PE teacher, Shelly Vosburg, earned Touchdown School status once again this year. Leaders have to complete six steps to earn this status. Those steps are: forming a Leader Team, having a kick-off, being a role model for healthy eating and physical activity, completing an online wellness survey, completing healthy eating plays and physical activity plays, and uploading their success story.

Vosburg and PTA President Stephanie Hunt also received an Excellence Award honoring Leaders in School Wellness in the category of Community Unites. In conjunction with the school, the PTA hosted a Family Fit Day with community leaders that included physical activities and health booths, a 1K and 5K run and healthy Fuelup snacks.

Students earning more than 20,000 points can become a Student Ambassador. Elm Grove had two students achieve the Ambassador level: Lorraine Braun and Riley Fall.

FueluptoPlay60 is an in-school nutrition and physical education program that empowers kids to lead by example and find fun ways to eat healthy, stay active and inspire healthy changes in their schools.
