Your mom, an uncle, a friend, a co-worker or even yourself? Who is your One Degree from cancer? With nearly 15 million cancer survivors in America today, we are all connected in some way to this disease.
Despite the great progress being made against cancer, an estimated 1.7 million more people in the United States will be diagnosed this year. Cancer continues to kill one person for every minute of every day in this country. It’s time to take a stand and ask Congress to help bring us closer to better treatments and cures.
Federally-funded cancer research is the engine behind our ongoing progress in the fight against cancer. Research offers hope to the millions of people who face cancer-for better treatments, for more opportunities to prevent and detect the disease early and for improved quality of life for those already diagnosed. Yet federal funding for medical research has declined more than 24 percent in inflation-adjusted dollars since 2003, forcing cancer centers to halt promising clinical trials and drying up the grant pool relied upon by researchers.
The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network is leading a nationwide effort to save more lives from cancer by asking Congress to boost the nation’s investment in lifesaving cancer research.
Join us at www.OneDegreeProject.org to share your One Degree to cancer. Together, let’s tell Congress that we’ve had enough.
It’s time to end cancer.
