Staff Report on September 4, 2015
David Wesley Jones (1947-2015)

David Jones, 68, of Kyle, Texas passed away of natural causes on Tuesday August 25th, 2015.

David was born in Bryan, Texas on June 11, 1947.  He is the son of LZ Jones and Bessie Inez Jones of Bryan, Texas.  David is survived by this wife Jennifer (Smith) Jones, his son Clinton Jones and three daughters; Sherry Ann Haddox, Cara Lynne Dunlap, and Stephanie Leigh Wilson.  Grand children;  Shaun Allen Wallace, and Kayleigh Brooke Wallace.  David had 3 brothers , John L. Jones, Tommy LZ Jones, and Danny L. Jones. 

In 1965 David graduated from Steven F. Austin High School in Bryan, Texas and then proudly served in the U.S. Navy between 1966 to 1970.  He was an avionics technician, US Navy Rescue Swimmer, and air crew member.  He served courageously in the Vietnam war and earned numerous military honors;  Navy Unit Commendation, Nation Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation and 4bronze stars .

After his service in the US Navy, he continued using his electronics skills to earn a career as a specialized technician.   Most recently David worked as Department of Defense contractor, where he continued to service his Country by agreeing to deployments into war zones; in 2012 David was deployed twice to Bagdad supporting operations Iraqi Freedom and in 2013 he lived on Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.  

After returning from Afghanistan, David retired and lived in Kyle, Texas with his wife Jennifer.

A grave side service is planned for, 11:00am September 12, 2015 at the Steep Hollow Cemetery in Steep Hollow, Texas.
