Staff Report on November 10, 2015
Ambrosio (Bocho) Garcia (1925-2015)

Ambrosio (Bocho) Garcia, 90, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was born May 2, 1925 to Juan and Solia (Quiroga) Garcia in Uhland, Texas. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In 1950, he went to work as a truck driver in Washington State to save money so he could marry his beloved Julia. In 1953 he returned to marry her on January 25th They then settled in Uhland, Texas and farmed for many years. In 1962 he went to work for Nagel Manufacturing in Maxwell, Texas. He retired in 1990 as a foreman. Dearest to him was his family and spending time with them. He always looked forward to the family gatherings and seeing them together. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren. He also loved his Astros baseball team.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 57 years, Juliana Garcia, his brother Salvador Garcia and his sister Juanita Chavarria. 

Ambrosio is survived by daughter Rosa Garcia of Kyle, sons Juan (Alice) Garcia of Buda and Jorge (Allison) Garcia of Uhland, grandchildren Angie (Rudy) Mendez, Sara (Clarence) Winzer, Lori, Erik, Gabriella and Anthony Garcia and Camille Tobias, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, His brother Juan (Armandina) Garcia from Othello, WA and many nephews and nieces.

The family is grateful to the staff at Legend Oaks, especially the staff in the 300 wing for their kind care and support of our father during his stay. We would also like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice and Perfecto and Irene Mercado for their extended stay during our father’s last week. Also to Perfecto for being his daytime caretaker before he went into the nursing home. 

Serving as pallbearers will be Erik Garcia, Anthony Garcia, Joe Tapia, Rudy Mendez, Ernest Maldonado and Jorge Garcia.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Harrell Funeral Home, Kyle and from 6 to 8 p.m. at Santa Cruz Catholic Church in Buda with a 7 p.m. Rosary. The Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Marie de Claret Catholic Church with burial following at St. Michael Cemetery in Uhland, TX.
