Staff Report on November 24, 2015
Jack Calvin Bradshaw (~1937-2015)

Jack Calvin Bradshaw passed away on November 16, 2015 at the age of 78. He was born to Jack O. and Dorene Russell Bradshaw in Matador, Texas and grew up in Bryan, Texas where he graduated from Bryan High School and recently attended his 60th class reunion. He was a member of the 1959 graduating class at Texas A&M University earning a Bachelor of Business degree. While there, he was a member of the Ross Volunteers and went on to serve in the United States Army. While attending Texas Tech during one summer in college, he met Janet Nance of Kyle, Texas. They were wed August 26, 1958 and would spend the next 57 years together.

As an officer in the 2nd Armored Division of the US Army he and his family were stationed in Ft. Huachuca, Arizona, (where he enjoyed mountain lion hunting on muleback in the Huachuca Mountains); Ft. Bragg, North Carolina; Ft. Knox, Kentucky; and Ft. Hood, Texas. During this time of service to his country, Jack did a tour of duty in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star.

Upon leaving military service, Jack and his family moved to Austin, Texas where he worked in State government until his retirement in 1991. He felt his retirement years were the most rewarding of his life where he and Janet could devote time for trips to Rockport, Texas for bay fishing with longtime friends; day trips throughout the Texas hill country; his cattle ranching interests in Buda and Kyle, Texas; family genealogy; Aggie football and to being a grandfather.

His parents preceded Jack in death. He is survived by his wife, Janet; sons, Jason Bradshaw of Dallas, Texas; Joel Bradshaw and wife Jaynie of Frisco, Texas; two grandsons, Brandon and Blake Bradshaw, both of Frisco; and brother-in-law Scott Nance and his wife, Lana of Mountain City, Texas.

A graveside services was Saturday, November 21 in the family plot at Kyle Cemetery in Kyle, Texas. Visitation was at Harrell Funeral Home in Kyle immediately preceding the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to the Robert and Ruth Parham Nance Agricultural Endowment at Texas State University, c/o Donor Services, San Marcos, Texas 78666 or to the charity of choice.
