Incumbent upset in Buda runoff

A political newcomer has ousted a long-time Buda City Council member from the dais by a wide margin in Tuesday’s runoff election. 

According to unofficial runoff election results, candidate David Nuckels defeated incumbent Jose Montoya 168-92. Nuckels gained 64.6 percent of the vote, while Montoya gathered 35.3 percent. 

Nuckels held a 122-49 lead over Montoya in early voting. Montoya gained a slight rally on Election Day, but could only gain 43 of the 89 Election Day voters. Nuckels gained 46 votes on Election Day.

Buda City Council Place 3 runoff election

David Nuckels — 168 total votes (122 early voting) — 64.61%

Jose Montoya — 92 total votes (35.38 early voting) — 35.38%
