Look! Every “citywide” award, but one, is along “Live Oak Trail.”  Take an evening stroll as we get closer to full moon Christmas.  It’s quite the sight.

In the Mountain City “loving” way of doing things, additional awards are sprinkled throughout the city.  Each street has at least one “Best of …” Award.

As Amy “Loving Mountain City” Hilton is recovering from a third surgery on her left eye, she is sharing some heart’s observations on Facebook:

“Each of us needs to take the time to stop, and truly see the many gifts in our lives. Oddly, I’m feeling very blessed by this eye blindness today … I’ve been given the gift of slowing down. I can see what is important to me and those around me. I know my blessings and I’ve been allowed the time to celebrate them. Hug your loved ones, talk to your best friend, treasure the moments that make your house a home … and above all love and give thanks!”

“I’m telling you my sense of smell and hearing have stepped up their game during this period of vision loss. (At restaurant) I felt like I had Bruce Almighty hearing in that everything was so loud and coming at me so quickly … and so much sadness … I heard parents upset for children behaving as kids, I heard woman stressing rather than enjoying this beautiful holiday season, I heard men flirting with waitresses and ignoring their partners, I heard aggravation from teens, I heard people talking poorly about those in the same volunteer group … about when I had enough … as we were leaving I heard a table, an entire table, burst out in laughter. I hope the sound of joy and happiness fills your life this holiday. I pray that families connect and people appreciate the greatest gift there is … family and friendship.”

“Don’t trust you can follow your dreams tomorrow …. do them today. Live your life without regret and be thankful for each and every opportunity you have to enjoy life … the amazing show stopper moments to the little surprises you might have missed if you blinked. Make memories worth having if you were ever blind and you had only your life’s movie reel to watch. And don’t, not for a second, think you have all the time in the world to make something happen … because you may not.”

See if you can find a tidbit to send, please.   ptom5678@gmail.com (subject: tidbit) or 512 268 5678.  Thanks!  Love, Pauline
