Kyle District 1 incumbent holds lead after early voting

Kyle City Council: 

A long time Kyle City Council member holds the lead over her opponent for the District 1 race after early voting results were released Saturday. 

Diane Hervol, who is the incumbent District 1 council member, leads candidate Travis Mitchell by 46 votes after early voting numbers were released. Hervol gathered 383 votes, or 53.19 percent of the vote, to Mitchell’s 337.

Meanwhile, in the race for the District 3 seat, incubment council member Shane Arabie holds a substantial lead over candidate Randall Lloyd. 

Arabie gathered 390 votes to Lloyd’s 281 after early voting results were released. 

City of Kyle Special Election: 

All but one of Kyle’s 11 charter amendment propositions are currently passing after early voting. Proposition 4, which asked voters if they were for or against amending the charter to eliminate the reqirement of Council confirmation of the dismissal of the Director of Finance, is failing after voters cast 345 votes against it to 334 in favor. 

Voters are currently in favor of Proposition 6, which asked voters if they want to hold Kyle city council and Mayoral elections in November, by a 506-181 vote after early voting results. 

Hays CISD School Board: 

In the race for the District 5 Hays CISD school board seat, Esperanza Orosco currently holds a 244-142 lead over opponent Priscilla L. Harrell after early voting. 

Early voting results show incumbent District 4 school board member Merideth Keller holds a 200 vote advantage over challenger Jonanna Mikulenka. 

Emergency Service District No. 5 Special Election 

Early voting results also showed voters have cast their ballots in favor of Proposition 1, which would allow ESD 5 to increase in the rate of the local sales and use tax imposed by the district from one-half of one percent to one and one-half percent. The measure currently has 64 votes for it, with 34 votes against.
