New constable elected in Buda

An Election Day rally by Hays County Precinct No. 5 constable candidate Mitch Johnson wasn’t enough to keep candidate John Ellen from claiming the seat in Tuesday’s runoff election. 

Ellen won the seat Tuesday with 57.48 percent of the vote, according to unofficial, final election results. 

Ellen, who collected 219 of the 381 total ballots cast, led Johnson by a 122-67 margin after early voting results were released.
