TxDOT to close southbound I-35 entrance ramp in Kyle

Staff report

The Texas Department of Transportation is permanently closing the southbound entrance ramp to Interstate 35 located south of FM 150/Center Street in Kyle at 9 a.m. Friday morning.

According to a press release, the move comes as part of TxDOT’s Mobility35 ramp reversal project that is currently underway between FM 150 and the Blanco River.

The $9 million project, which is projected to be completed in summer 2017, will “improve safety, traffic flow, and accessibility along the I-35 corridor,” accrding to the release.

Drivers who are heading southbound on the I-35 frontage road can enter the interstate using the ramp prior to FM 150/Center Street or the entrance ramp past Yarrington Road.

Road signs have been placed to alert commuters of the closure. Motorists should allow extra time to travel through the area during the affected hours.
