According to unofficial, final results, Proposition 1, which called for $189 million for three new campuses, was approved with 59 percent of the 2,102 total votes cast.
Proposition 2, which called for $60-plus million in improvements, including a new baseball/softball complex, was also approved with 64 percent of the vote.
EARLIER
A pair of Hays CISD bond propositions totaling $250 million are passing with over 60 percent of the vote after the release of early voting numbers Saturday.
Proposition 1, which holds $189 million for a new high school and two elementary schools, received 607 votes in favor, which comprised of 60 percent of the 973 early votes cast.
Proposition 2, which holds over $60 million in district wide improvements, is also passing after 653 votes were cast in favor during the early voting period.
Hays CISD trustee races
UPDATE
A Hays CISD board trustee incumbent claimed victory in her bid for reelection to the dais.
Teresa Tobias, incumbent District 1 trustee, reclaimed her seat with 59 percent of the vote after the release of Election Day total. Tobias defeated Charles McNiel, Jr., who finished with 27 percent of the vote, while Michelle R. Carey finished third.
Political newcomer Vanessa Petrea, a former PTA president, claimed the Hays CISD At-Large seat after receiving 41 percent of the total vote. Candidate Debbie Munoz finished second with 31 percent of the vote, while Doyla A. Burrell finished with 27 percent.
EARLIER
In the race for the Hays CISD At-Large seat, Vanessa Petrea received 40 percent of the 879 early votes cast. Candidate Debbie Munoz is in second after capturing 32 percent of the vote, while candidate Doyla A. Burrell is third with 26.62 percent.
Meanwhile, Hays CISD District 1 incumbent Teresa Tobias holds a 24 vote lead over candidate Charles McNiel, Jr. after the release of early voting numbers. Tobias garnered 57 percent of the 91 early votes in that race, while McNiel currently has 30 percent. Candidate Michelle R. Carey received 12 percent of the vote.
Dripping Springs City Council
Two political newcomers along with an incumbent council members earned their spots after claiming victory Saturday.
Taline Manassian, an attorney who has lived in Dripping Spring for nine years, surpassed all six candidates vying for three city council seats by claiming 210 of the 859 total votes cast.
Mayor Pro-Tem Bill Foulds finished second with 18.39 percent of the vote, while political newcomer William Travis Crow took third place with 18.16 percent of the vote. Harrison Schultz finished fourth in the race with 16.76 percent of the vote.
Incumbent council members Charles Busbey and Santos Alba, who have been on the city council a combined 30 years, were ousted after they finished 5th and 6th in the race respectively.
EARLIER
In the race for three Dripping Springs City Council seats, challenger Taline Manassian holds the edge with 23 percent of the 404 total votes cast during early voting. Incumbent Mayor Pro-Tem Bill Foulds garnered 19 percent of early votes, while incumbent Charles Busbey gathered 17 percent. Harrison Schultz and William Travis Crow each claimed 15 percent of early votes, while longtime incumbent council member Santos Alba gathered 8 percent.
Dripping Springs ISD
UPDATE
Two incumbent Dripping Springs ISD school board trustees scored reelection victories after final results were released Saturday.
Ron Jones garnered the most votes with 1,049 of the 2,638 votes cast in the election. Barbara Stroud finished second with 1,032 votes, while Trey Powers gathered 557 votes.
EARLIER
A pair of incumbent Dripping Springs ISD board trustees hold the lead for two seats on the dais so far. Incumbent Ron Jones claimed 613 of the 1,502 early and absentee ballots cast, while Barbara Stroud claimed 600. Challenger Trey Powers is in third with 289 votes.
Emergency Services District 6 election
UPDATE
Over 70 percent of voters in Emergency Services District 6 (ESD) approved a proposition allowing for a sales and use tax to be implemented in areas of the district not currently at the maximum 8.25 percent rate.
Proposition 1 was approved with 893 votes in favor of the measure.
EARLIER
A majority of voters are also in favor of Hays County Emergency Service District (ESD) No. 6 (North Hays County Fire Rescue) proposition for implementation of a sales tax in areas not at the maximum 8.25 percent rate. Approximately 71 percent of the 728 early votes cast were in favor of ESD 6’s proposition.
