Daniel J. Stim (1937-2019)

Daniel J. Stim of Kyle, TX, passed away Friday October 11th in Bogota, Columbia at the age of 82 years.  Daniel was born in Easton, MD on May 17th, 1937 to Elizabeth and Alex Stim. 

Daniel was a Navy veteran.  He joined the Air Force in 1955 and joined the Navy in 1964.  He served onboard many Ships and Submarines including the USS Simon Bolivar SSBN-641 where he earned his dolphins in 1965.  Daniel retired from the Navy as a CSC(SS) in 1975 and retired to Kingsville, Texas where he continued his career as Assistant manager at Denny’s.  In 1980, Dan began working for the Boy Scouts of America.  He managed several districts in Kansas and different parts of Texas.  After retiring from the Boy Scouts, he spent his time as a member of the Commemorative Air Force where he enjoyed restoring warbirds and the United States Submarine Veterans where he was Holland Club member.  He was also very active with the Lion’s Club, Knights of Columbus, and American Veterans in Kyle, TX.  Dan was laid to rest in Fort Sam Houston Military Cemetery on November 1st.

Dan is survived by his sister, Zonda Landis, her husband, and their two children, Owen, Jr and Melissa, as well as several great nieces and nephews.  Dan has two children from his marriage to Mary Kring and their children, Michael and David, as well as two grandchildren.  He has two stepchildren from his marriage to Janice Keller, Susan Harbaugh, and John Keller, as well as several step grandchildren.  Dan was currently married to Florepis Fierro Arias, and is survived by four stepchildren Jorge, Juan, Maria, and Gustavo Silva, as well as several step grandchildren.
