While the group has operated as normally as possible during the first week of band camp, they also stringently followed strict safety procedures and protocols put in place to curtail the spread of COVID-19. That included conducting wellness and temperature checks prior to rehearsal, adhering to social distancing measures, as well as requiring all participants to wear a face-covering at all times. In addition, Hays band officials split rehearsals into two different days, so as to reduce the number of students participating at the same time. Lehman High’s and Johnson High’s marching bands begin summer rehearsals Aug. 10.
