Pie eating contests, fireworks and hot air balloons. Labor Day Weekend in Kyle traditionally calls for the Pie in the Sky festival. While COVID-19 continues to make its appearance, festivities to celebrate the holiday will look a little different this year.
Sunrise, around 7 p.m., on Sept. 5 will welcome hot air balloons take flight at surprise locations around town. Later that evening, around 7:45 p.m., a drive-thru glow show will start at 5001 City Lights Drive and continue down Physicians Way. Parking and walk-ups will not be allowed at this event.
There will be photo contests from Sept. 4 to Sept. 11 commemorating Labor Day. Winners, announced at the City Council’s Sept. 15 meeting, will receive cash prizes.
