Robert Garcia Valero (1973 – 2021)
Obituaries
Staff Report, on July 26, 2021
Robert Garcia Valero (1973 – 2021)

Robert Garcia Valero, age 48 of Buda, Texas, passed away in Corpus Christi, Texas on July 19, 2021.  Robert was born May 24, 1973 in San Angelo, Texas to Robert and Esther Garcia Valero.  Robert is survived by his loving wife, Victoria, his son Christopher, daughters Jaelyn and Valencia Valero, and stepdaughters Maricella and Isabella Duran; along with his parents, and his brother Andy Valero.

With his mother Esther and brother Andy, Robert moved to Austin, Texas where Robert graduated from John H. Reagan High School in 1992. As a young entrepreneur, and with the help from his Aunt Nancy Garcia, who he loved dearly, Robert dedicated all his time starting up Garcia and Valero Income Tax office in Austin, Texas. For 19 years, he was committed to giving back to the community in which he grew up. He met his beloved wife Victoria in 2008 and it was love at first sight. They were married in Maui in June of 2012 and set roots in Buda, Texas.

Robert was a dedicated and enthusiastic father and friend to all. His children were his entire life.  He wholeheartedly adored them and was so proud of all their accomplishments.  His second love in life was his wife and best friend of many years, Victoria.  They were inseparable and cherished every moment together.  Robert was a caring, kindhearted, and generous person who had a contagious laugh and smile and who made friends with everyone he met. He was an avid fan of music of all genres, attended Austin City Limits music festival every year with his wife and kids, and always had his favorite songs or records playing at home.

Robert was very passionate for junior golf and well known within the community. Inspired by his son Christopher 14 years ago, Robert initiated a connection and friendship with Polo Lopez with the Mexican Junior Golf Association.  Together, they started the Texas Mexico Cup junior golf tournament in hopes of fostering international relations between the Texas and Mexico junior golf programs. Robert took immense joy witnessing the long-lasting friendships and camaraderie that were created between the two countries. With his humble leadership and kind sportsmanship, Robert inspired countless generations of golfers, and his legacy will cause ripples in the community for decades to come.

Robert is preceded in death by his Maternal Grandfather Samuel R. Garcia and Cousin Michael Garcia and Paternal Grandparents Benancio and Catherine Valero of San Angelo, Texas.

Visitation and Tributes will be conducted Tuesday, July 27, 2021 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Harrell Funeral Home, 1715 Kirby, Kyle, TX 78640.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 with burial to follow at Onion Creek Memorial Park, 11610 Chapel Ln., Manchaca, TX 78652.
