HAYS COUNTY -- William Rojas, 25, was arrested and charged with murder related to the death of a 19-year-old male in Hays County.
On April 25, the Hays County Sheriff's Office received a call for a deceased person outside of the Buda city limits. Detectives were called to the scene and determined the death to be suspicious. The unidentified male at the time was taken to the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, where it was determined the decedent had succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.
The Hays County Sheriff’s Office continued the investigation as a homicide and later identified the decedent as Esbin Santiago Gomez from Guatemala. Through the support of Crime Analysts and the Crime Scene Unit, Detectives were able to establish a suspect and the suspect’s vehicle.
Rojas, who is originally from El Savador, has been charged with murder (first-degree felony); two counts of tampering with evidence/human corpse (second-degree felony); and tampering with physical evidence (third-degree felony). He is currently in the Travis County Jail on unrelated charges and will be transferred to the Hays County Jail at a later time.
