DRIPPING SPRINGS — The city of Dripping Springs is updating its agreement with Tiger Splash for the use of Founders Memorial Pool.
On Feb. 6, the Dripping Springs City Council unanimously approved the 2024 Tiger Splash Founders Pool Use Agreement for the swim season. Tiger Splash is a nonprofit dedicated to the development of excellence and achievement in competitive and recreational swimming for the youth of Dripping Springs and surrounding areas, according to the organization’s website.
The approved agreement includes minor updates and an applied administrative 10% discount off rental fees due to nonprofit status and service to community qualifications. Other updates include program dates and decreased pool usage from 2023 by approximately five hours, as requested by Tiger Splash.
An additional 5% off rental fees was also considered, which would have made the total amount due to the city $17,857.50.
However, upon city staff’s recommendation, the council decided to not include the additional 5% discount and the total due to the city would come out to $18,735.00.
“The prices of our supplies, chemicals and [equipment] have increased pretty significantly,” explained Andrew Binz, Parks and Community Services director. “As the manager of the pool, I have to take into consideration those increases.”
Tiger Splash had to pay $18,420 in 2023; $14,750 in 2022; and $13,487 in 2021, according to agenda documents.
As stated in the agreement, payment to the city shall occur in full before the end of the first week of practice or by Friday, May 3, 2024.
