ROUND ROCK — The Dripping Springs Lady Tigers soccer team finished district in fourth place in UIL Region 4 District 26. Their district record was 6-5-1.
On Friday, March 21, the Lady Tigers traveled to Round Rock to take on the Westwood High School Warriors, who finished in second place in the University Interscholastic League Region 4 District 25 with a record of 11-2-3. The Warriors played great offense and kept the Lady Tigers scoreless during the first half of the game.
The Warriors scored at the 30 minute mark and scored again at the 23 minute mark. The halftime score was Warriors 2, Lady Tigers 0.
The Lady Tigers regrouped and played more aggressive on defense and on offense. The Lady Tigers finally scored at the 75 minute mark in the second half. Lady Tiger Bailey Stephenson scored the Tigers’ only goal with an assist from Lily Ruff; they held the Warriors scoreless in the second half and the final score was Warriors 2, Lady Tigers 1.
Following the game, head coach Bailee Perrine said the Lady Tigers are very young and all the starters are returning next year. She went on to say that six freshman starters will also return and continue to contribute next year.
