HAYS COUNTY -- The Hays CISD (HCISD) Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting Tuesday morning to begin the process of terminating teacher Andrew Palmore, who was charged with two counts of indecency with a child.
According to HCISD, the Board decided to not wait until its regular meeting later this month to address the situation because of the seriousness of the matter.
"The district remains unwavering in its commitment that the safety of all students is paramount," the district said in a news release. "The very minute the district has actionable information it can use on any matter that concerns the well-being of children; it acts swiftly.
Palmore has been barred from HCISD campuses and has not had access to the school district or students since Feb. 1, when he was placed on leave because of an investigation by the Kyle Police Department into allegations that led to his arrest on March 1, the district said. Palmore was also previously placed on leave in Hays CISD in December 2020 when the district was notified that he was being investigated by Child Protective Services and a different law enforcement agency, other than the Kyle Police Department.
Those investigations did not result in any charges or any information provided to HCISD that would have caused the district to proceed with disciplinary action against Palmore.
Anyone with information they believe would be important to investigators should contact the Kyle Police Department at 512-268-3232.
