A Kyle teen was arrested after barricading himself in his home for a brief period early Wednesday after he was accused of firing a weapon while allegedly intoxicated in a dangerous manner, nearly hitting a neighbor.
According to a Hays County Press release, authorities arrested Chandler Allen Rose, 17, of Kyle, who was booked into the Hays County Jail Wednesday on a charge of deadly conduct, a third degree felony.
Rose was magistrated by Hays County Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Beth Smith, who set his bond at $10,000.
According to an arrest affidavit provided by Smith, a Hays County Sheriff's Office deputy was dispatched to the 100 block of Greenfield Road in Kyle at 1 a.m. Wednesday regarding a discharge of firearms.
A resident told the deputy she was on her front porch talking on her cell phone when she heard a gun shot and felt the pressure of a bullet go by her. The resident said she believed the bullet had passed within a few feet of her, according to the affidavit.
The resident said she looked to the area where the gun shot came from and described a "tall, skinny boy" wearing a white T-shirt. While talking to 911, the boy fired his gun again.
When a deputy arrived on scene, a white male exited a residence along Greenfield Road. The male, later identified as Rose, fired a firearm several times and started walking to the road, according to the affidavit.
After the deputy identified himself, Rose attempted to elude law enforcement and walked back into his house, according to the release.
After several minutes of negotiation, Rose surrendered to authorities. Rose was wearing a white t-shirt and was the only male located at the residence.
Rose allegedly appeared intoxicated, smelled of alcohol and admitted to drinking that evening, according to the affidavit.
According to the release, the weapon used by Rose was located and seized.
