Staff Report
HAYS COUNTY -- Hays CISD campuses will close after for the rest of the week beginning Thursday, Feb. 3, because of anticipated inclement weather.
Here is what the community should expect:
Thursday, February 3, 2022: All Hays CISD schools and offices are closed and all afterschool activities are cancelled.
Friday, February 4, 2022: All Hays CISD schools and offices are closed. Some limited, previously scheduled afterschool activities and competitions may be able to occur late Friday afternoon and evening. Check with coaches and activity sponsors for the status of individual events.
Here’s what HCISD expects specifically in the area, based on the district’s most recent conference with the experts at our weather service: Ice and winter precipitation should begin forming in the district on roadways Thursday morning, during what would have been a normal commute time. Temperatures will likely not get above freezing the entire day on Thursday. For Friday morning, in addition to potential residual ice, wind chills are predicted to be in the single digits during times students would ordinarily have been outside at bus stops. Temperatures on Friday will likely remain below freezing until the afternoon.
