Staff report

Two men, one woman and a child were killed after a three-car accident that happened Friday along Interstate 35 northbound near mile marker 214. Kyle Police continue to investigate the accident.

According to Kyle Police, the accident, which occurred near Mitchell Motor Sports, happened sometime after 1 a.m. Friday. Police received a 911 call reporting a wrong-way driver heading southbound on the northbound side of the highway. Another call was made to 911 reporting the crash.

Kyle Police Chief Jeff Barnett confirmed four fatalities in the accident. The fatalities were reported as two adult males, one adult female and one child aged 18 mo. to 2 years old.

Police believe the driver of a Honda Civic, a male, was going the wrong way on IH-35. The driver of the Civic is in critical condition at an Austin hospital.

The driver of a Ford F-150 pickup truck, also a male, was treated and released at the scene.

All others involved in the crash were in a Ford Winstar minivan, including two young children who suffered non-life threatning injuries. The two children are being treated at Dell Children's Hospital.
