Dripping Springs residents will come together Saturday as they work on a grassroots effort to end hunger in the area.

The 19th annual Empty Bowls Project, which will be held at the Mercer Street Dance Hall, will raise money to help feed those in need in the Dripping Springs area.

Don’t Miss Out:

The 19th annual Empty Bowls Project will be held Sunday, Nov. 6 from  11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mercer Street Dance Hall

For a donation of only $25 per person, attendees can choose a ceramic bowl from more than 1,000 unique creations made by Bridget and Bill Hauser and the Art Garage, and other youth organizations and individuals.

People can then fill their bowls with a serving of soups from restaurants in the Austin and Dripping Springs area.

Live music will be provided by Bill Paige, Alex Dormont, Billy Garza and The Ramblers, and Chad and Natasha Hudson.

Since 1997, residents of Dripping Springs and the North Hays County region have supported this annual family-friendly event that benefits Dripping Springs Helping Hands, whose clients are struggling with hunger.

Helping Hands is a non-profit organization that provides a food pantry, temporary financial assistance, school supplies, summer food supplements for children, and a holiday gift program for kids called the Elf Project. The organization provides services to more than 100 families each week.

Volunteer June Baumoel says the Empty Bowls Project raises more than 60 percent of the Helping Hands annual budget.

“It is a vital fundraiser for our neighbors in need and without it, Helping Hands simply would not be able to provide enough food for all of its clients,” Baumoel said in a statement.

In addition, local establishments will donate a percentage of their profits Saturday to support the Empty Bowls Project.
