A furious mid-game rally wasn't enough for the Dripping Springs Tigers to keep its historic 2016 season alive Saturday at the Alamodome.

Thirty-four unanswered Richmond Foster points tallied in the first 15-plus minutes of the game helped the Falcons roll past Dripping Springs (12-2) 51-28 in the Class 5A, Division I Region IV final.

Foster (14-0) was guided by wide receiver and Oklahoma commitment Cedarian Lamb, who caught five touchdowns in the game, four of them in the first half. Lamb finished with 215 receiving yards on eight receptions.

The Falcons grabbed a quick 7-0 first quarter lead as Lamb hauled in a 58-yard pass from quarterback Alex Ramart on the game's third play.

Foster captured momentum by scoring on its next four possessions to take a commanding 34-0 lead with 8:52 left in the first half.

The Tiger offense roared to life in the second quarter when Tiger quarterback Reese Johnson connected with wide receiver Johnny Hoyle for a 64-yard touchdown pass.

Dripping Springs took advantage of a Falcon turnover on its next drive, which was capped off by a Johnson touchdown pass to Reed Beverly in the back of the end zone. Johnson went 15 of 33 for 262 yards, 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions passing. Johnson also rushed for 47 yards and a touchdown.

Foster tallied a field goal at the end of the first half to take a 37-14 lead at intermission.

Dripping Springs hit the ground running in the second half as they tallied 14 unanswered points to start. Highlighting the run was a 39-yard touchdown pass from Johnson to Hoyle.

Turnovers, however, were a consistent problem the Tigers were unable to rectify. Dripping Springs committed six turnovers, which led to 24 Falcon points.

A Quinton Oliver touchdown run gave Foster a 44-28 lead. Following a Tiger fumble, Ramart tossed a 9-yard touchdown pass to Lamb.
