Six people were injured, three of them critically, after a single vehicle rollover accident along northbound Interstate 35 near the 213 exit in Kyle Tuesday morning.
Kyle Police Chief Jeff Barnett said the accident occurred around 5:40 a.m. and involved a Ford Expedition with six adult occupants. Three of the occupants were transported to an Austin hospital in critical, but stable condition. Three others were transported to South Austin Hospital with minor injuries. The identities of the occupants is unknown at this time.
Officials shut down the highway and the access road for several hours to investigate the accident, which blocked the 213 exit ramp and the I-35 service road. Barnett said all roadways were reopened as of 9:55 a.m.
The initial cause of the accident is believed to be a blown tire, Barnett said. The accident is still under investigation.
