Lady Rebels fall to Chaps, ends season 8-23

Eleven points from Hays High senior Hayden Hoekstra wasn’t enough as the Westlake Chaparrals cruised to a 65-38 district win in January. The Rebels ended the season with a 8-23 record, 4-12 in 14-6A.


Lady Rebels make it to third round of playoffs

In May, Hays swept Westwood in two games to advance to the second round of the playoffs. The Lady Rebels went on to beat Klein Oak but the playoff run came to an end in the third round when Atascocita Eagles swept Hays in two games. Atascocita defeated Hays by the scores of 6-3 and 12-2 in a best-of-three series.

Lady Rebels overtake Lobos

Twelve kills from sophomore Kaitlyn Krafka spearheaded Hays’ 25-12, 25-14, 25-17 win over a resilient Lehman squad at the Lobo Den. The Lady Rebs ended the season with a 21-21 record, 6-6 in 25-6A.


Lady Lobos beat Rebs in comeback victory

A goal scored by Pamela Lasprilla catapulted Lehman to a 2-1 win over crosstown rival Hays in February. The Lady Lobos ended the year with an 12-6 record, 8-5 in 14-6A.


HCISD track athletes hit regionals

Hays CISD students competing at the 2016 Region 2 6A track meet at Baylor included Esmi Fuentes in 1,600 and 3,200 meter run, Raney Moore in boys pole vault, Camille Dickson in 100 meter and 200 meter dash and long jump, and Lauren Sikoski in girls pole vault.


Late scoring pushes Rebs past Lobos in annual showdown

A 28-point Rebel outburst scored during the final 24-plus minutes, spurred by a blocked field goal returned for a touchdown, gave Hays a 35-7 win over Lehman and continued dominance in the series. The Rebels ended the season with a 3-7 record, 2-4 in 25-6A.
