Wimberley Players thrill with sinister ‘Wait Until Dark’

When the Wimberley Players unwind the cat-and-mouse chiller, “Wait Until Dark,” written by Frederick Knott, audiences can expect a tense experience as they witness the con of an innocent blind woman. “Wait” is the story of Suzy and Sam Hendrix, who live in New York’s Greenwich Village. On Sam’s return trip from Toronto, he agrees to transport a doll across the border for a mysterious woman. It ultimately brings terror, mayhem and murder into Sam and Suzy’s quiet, circumspect lives. A sinister band of thugs traces the doll to their apartment, then diverts Sam out of town. Without her protector and now the target of the con, Suzy must keep herself one step ahead of the criminals. Directed by Tysha Calhoun, the Wimberley Players production is set in 1966. Produced by Laura Haygood and Cara Mosier, the show features Elizabeth Anne Jean as Suzy and Bill Claussen as Sam. The trio of thugs are played by Players alums Guy Ben-Moshe, Ameer Mobarak and Danny Mosier. Adam Witko is executive producer. “Wait Until Dark” is on stage Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. from Feb. 27–March 22 at the Wimberley Playhouse.
