Two HCISD Destination Imagination teams headed to state competition

Twelve Hays CISD teams participated in the regional Destination Imagination (DI) competition in Pflugerville.  There were six teams from Carpenter Hill Elementary, three teams from Elm Grove Elementary, one team from Kyle Elementary, and two teams from Dahlstrom Middle School. 


The following teams earned medals:


Brainy Bunch from Dahlstrom (2nd place) managed by Mrs. Boddy - team members include Anthony Hellen, Dominique Rodriguez, Robert Collins, Matthew Roiland, Matthew Boddy, Hannah Erwin, and Chloe Swanson 


Out of the Blocks from Carpenter Hill (2nd place) managed by Mrs. Pierce and Mrs. Kroeger - team members include Travis Pierce, Ivan Silva, Bethany Mueller, Riley Mueller, Bryson Severance, and Aidan Kroeger. This team earned a special award known as the Renaissance Award for outstanding design, engineering, execution, and performance.  


Sparkle Fairies from Elm Grove (2nd place) managed by Ms. Perez and Ms. Marshall - team members include Callie Church, Sydney Hodges, Parker Bergeron, Lindsay Faulks, Lydia Marion, Marissa Taylor, and Ana Jakubauskas


Banana Bunch from Kyle (3rd place) managed by Ms. Barnes and Ms. Robison - team members include Megan Plonowski, Carly Reyes, Ethan Robison, Evie Harlan, Beau Reinach, and Colben Wahl


Sound Wave Surfers from Carpenter Hill (4th place) managed by Mrs. Balsdon - team members include Tristan Avant, Audrey Balsdon, Avery Blanch, Ivy Clamons, Riley Dienna, and Maddy Mosel. This team earned a special award known as the Da Vinci Award for outstanding creativity.


The Sassy Six from Dahlstrom (4th place) managed by Mrs. Knight and Mrs. Cawley - team members include Sofia Rangel-Medina, Hadlee Russell, Rylee Russell, Emma Saxon, Brooke Sheely, and Kiele Shultz 


Super Sassy Sisters (4th place) managed by Mrs. Knight - team members include Campbell Brown, Vivian Jackson, Lily Jensen, Kaley Milligan, Gabi Rangel, Mallory Russell, and Tea Saxon


Two of the Hays CISD DI Teams are moving on to the state tournament: Out of the Blocks and Sparkle Fairies. The tournament will be held on April 11 in Dallas.
