For a third straight night, some I-35 lanes to be closed near Kyle.
Due to bridge construction at Yarrington Road and I-35, the southbound main lanes of the interstate will be shut down tonight (Thursday) from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday morning.
Southbound traffic will be diverted to the access road at the Yarrington Road exit, and drivers will be able to get back on the interstate south of the overpass.
County Officials warn drivers to expect delays and use alternate routes if possible.
Feb. 23:
The Texas Department of Transportation will close the north and southbound travel lanes of I-35 at Yarrington Road overnight on Feb. 24 and 25. The northbound lanes will be closed on Tuesday and southbound lanes on Wednesday, from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. both nights. Drivers will be detoured to the frontage road at the closest exit, and returned to the mainlanes at the next available entrance ramp. This closure is weather permitting. (Note: the closure could be extended to Thursday night, if needed, but that is yet to be determined.)
Feb. 24, 8 p.m.-5 a.m. — traffic northbound on I-35 at Yarrington Road will be diverted to the frontage roads.
Feb. 25, 8 p.m.-5 a.m. — traffic southbound on I-35 at Yarrington Road will be diverted to the frontage roads.
If needed for completion of work, lanes in either direction may be diverted on Thursday, Feb. 26, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday.
Drivers are asked to consider using alternate routes or leaving additional time for traveling in the area during these times.
