A trio of players in double figures Friday guided the Hays Lady Rebels to a dominating 64-38 win over the Anderson Lady Trojans at Bales Gym.
Lady Rebel senior Karlie Schroeder led all scorers with 18 points. Junior Tara Ramsey contributed 14 points and junior Amanda Benjamin scored 10 points.
By virtue of Friday's win, Hays (20-8, 10-2) secures a playoff berth with four district games remaining in the season. It marks the seventh straight playoff berth for the Lady Rebel basketball program.
Hays led 18-7 after the first quarter and held a 27-11 halftime advantage.
The Lady Rebels slammed on the accelerator in the third frame, outscoring Anderson 19-8 to take a 46-19 lead into the fourth quarter.
Physical play and a plethora of fouls dictated play in the fourth period. Hays staved off a late Anderson rally to secure the win.
The Lady Rebels hold second place in 14-6A behind the district unbeaten and state ranked Bowie Lady Bulldogs. Hays travels to play at Austin High on Tuesday.
