Michael David Boitnott, age 52, of Niederwald, passed away Sunday March 22nd in Kyle, Texas.
Michael was born to Boyd and Jo Myrl Boitnott on Sunday, September 9, 1962 in Houston, Texas. His family moved from Austin to New Mexico when Michael was three. They lived in Silver City and Albuquerque. It was here that Michael developed his love of the American Southwest. His family loved exploring the Land of Enchantment together any chance they could. He and his father staked many claims throughout New Mexico. They verified a small gold strike on one claim and a copper strike on another. The family returned to Texas when Michael was a teenager. They lived in Ennis and then Austin. He graduated from Davy Crockett High School in Austin, Texas. After graduation he received an Associate’s Degree from Southwest School of Electronics.
While in high school, he met the love of his life, Monique Scott. They were married on May 25, 1985. They lived in Austin and Buda until they settled in Niederwald in 2000. There they found a home surrounded by cow pastures and wonderful neighbors.
Mike had several jobs in the electronics field. In January of 1996 Mike began working for Cryogenic Plastics Incorporated in the amusement division manufacturing bumper collars, ride accessories and tubes for major amusement and waterparks around the world.
Family was of upmost importance to Mike. He loved introducing his wife and children to the beauty of New Mexico, Arizona and Utah. They took many trips to the desert Southwest. While they made sure to always visit Silver City; The Grand Canyon, Bandera Volcano and nearby Ice Cave provided unlimited opportunities for hiking and exploring. Mike and his father continued prospecting and even tried their hand at drilling an exploratory well for shallow oil together using a cable tool rig in the Lockhart area. In recent years, he and his wife had taken up gardening and loved finding new ways to prepare their harvests.
There is so much his family and friends will miss about him: his love of learning the history of America, his artistic talents, his passion for music and his love and care for all living things. Most of all we will miss how much he was always willing to help a friend need even if it meant giving the shirt off his back. He always gave freely expecting nothing in return.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Monique Boitnott; his sons Mitchell and Mason who were his pride and joy; his parents Boyd and Jo Myrl Boitnott; his paternal grandparents Boyd and Barbara Boitnott; his sister Taunya Backus and nephew Ricky; his Aunt and Uncle Ross and Betty Bruce; as well as numerous cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews and dear friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Seaton Medical Center at Kyle for the high quality care they provided during his stay.
A Memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm Friday at St. John Lutheran Church Uhland.
