Toastmasters coming to Kyle
No, it’s not another bar. Toastmasters is a world leader in communication and leadership development. In a learn-by-doing workshop structure, participants hone their speaking and leadership skills in a no-pressure atmosphere.
There is no instructor; members evaluate one another’s presentations. Meeting participants also give impromptu talks on assigned topics, conduct meetings and develop skills related to timekeeping, grammar and parliamentary procedure. The organizer of the Kyle Chapter of Toastmasters, Dallas Lee, said, “Being able to properly and effectively communicate is of tantamount importance.” The Kyle Chapter inaugural Adult Toastmasters begins Jan. 31, the youth group begins Feb. 7. Both take place at the Settlement Apartments. Light snacks will be provided. Contact [email protected] for more information.
COPS HD returns in February
The next COPS HD — Citizens Organizations Policing: Salutary Honest Dialogue — is slated for 9 a.m. Feb. 14 at Kyle City Hall council chambers. The first event drew about a dozen citizens for an open, honest dialogue with Kyle police. Organizers want to see more community members attend.
