Naturescapes Photo Contest
Submit your best photos in the 2015 Naturescapes Photography Contest and Exhibition and you could win a cash award. Sponsored by the Hill Country Photography Club and the Hays County Master Naturalists, the juried contest is designed to showcase the beauty of Hays County and its surrounding counties including Comal, Guadalupe, Caldwell, Blanco, and Travis counties. This year’s juror is Carla Ellard who received her Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Texas-Austin and a Bachelor of Science in Photography at East Texas State University (now A&M-Commerce). Photographers of all experience levels are encouraged to enter; there is a youth division. Cell phone images may be submitted. The contest is accepting entries from March 1-May 18. The award reception will be held at the San Marcos Activity Center on July 25. The Exhibition will run from July 25-September 11. Open Carry/Campus Carry Rally in Kyle
Former State Senator and Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson, along with CJ Grisham of Open Carry Texas and Justin Delosh of Lone Star Gun Rights, will host an Open Carry/Open Campus Rally next week. According to a post on the Facebook page for the Hays Constitutional Republicans, it will be an evening of Gun Talk and light refreshments. Takes place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. March 11 at Studio Estates Club House, located at 6880 Goforth Rd. in Kyle. The event is free. Visit www.facebook.com/HCR100 for more information.
