Hays County, in partnership with the state, is improving several roadways in Kyle and Buda to the tune of $88 million as part of their long-range transportation improvements.
Officials say road improvements ease traffic congestion, accelerate and attract business and improve quality of life. With Hays County’s explosive growth, officials are working to catch up with traffic demands, and the state and federal governments pitching in too.
“Hays County is one of the fastest growing counties in our state and in our nation between now and 2050, if we don’t get these projects started sooner than later we’re going to have gridlock,” Pct. 2 Hays Commissioner Mark Jones said, adding that the projects will help with mobility and infrastructure improvements.
Aaron Cox, vice president for the Texas Association of Business, recently said at a Buda Chamber of Commerce luncheon that congestion has gotten to a point where critical business issues sometimes cannot be performed.
“We have to be able to move people and products,” Cox said. “It’s an absolute in this world, and without it our economy could potential run into a halt,”
