Plum Creek Watershed Clean-up


Get a group of your friends, co-workers or scout troop and head to Steeplechase Park on Feb. 28 beginning at 9:30 a.m. to help clean up Plum Creek.  Check in at the covered pavilion. All workers are rewarded with a pizza lunch upon conclusion. Volunteers are equipped with trash bags, small hand tools and other necessary equipment to clean up the banks of the Plum Creek.  Community volunteers with saws, axes, chainsaws and equipment to remove small bushes and trees in the creek watershed are needed.


 


Wimberley Valley Art League Reception


The Wimberley Valley Art League will host a reception on Friday, Feb. 27, 5-7 p.m. at the Wimberley Community Center (14070 Ranch Road 12 in Wimberley). The reception will feature the new Juried Art Exhibit which will be open to the public Feb. 24 through April 13. Texas State Army ROTC Polar Bear Plunge


Join the Army ROTC at Texas State University for a dip in the San Marcos River in support of an organization that helps local veterans. This is a charity event hosted by Texas State Army ROTC in support of Disabled American Veterans (www.dav.org). Tickets available for purchase at the ROTC Adamson Building on Texas State’s campus located at 101 Lueders Drive (across from the Child Development Center). All proceeds support the local chapter of Disabled American Veterans. The Army ROTC Polar Bear Plunge takes place at 1 p.m. Feb. 28 at Sewell Park in San Marcos.


Polo Social Hour


Bring your friends and families to County Line Polo Club to enjoy some up-close arena polo action from 5:30-7:30 p.m. this Friday, Feb. 27. Admission is free. BYOB. The club is located at 2324 East FM 150 in Kyle.


 


Pops Concert: The Sounds of Russian Composers


Saturday, March 7at 2 p.m. head to the San Marcos High School Performing Arts Center (2601 E McCarty Lane, San Marcos) for a free all-ages concert presented by SMART (San Marcos Artists’ Retention and Training) Orchestra. Kyle Garden Club


The Kyle Garden Club will meet on Friday, March 6, 2015, 1:30 p.m. at the historic Kyle City Hall.  The program is on ‘Fabulous Butterflies,” and there will be a plant exchange.  The public is welcome.
