Dripping Springs residents in the Ledgestone subdivision of Highway 290 are advised to stay indoors as Hays County Sheriff’s deputies work an active rash of attempted home break-ins Friday night.
A man who attempted to burglarized several homes in the Ledgestone subdivision Friday night has Hays County Sheriff’s deputies scrambling to locate the suspect. Deputies are on the scene, investigating at least four attempted break-ins.
A Ledgestone homeowner called 911 to report an attempted burglary of his residence. The caller told authorities a black male wearing all black tried to break into his home, setting of the alarm.
The suspect did not enter the residence and fled on foot, Hays Sheriff’s Lieutenant Jeri Skrocki said in a statement.
A second call from another homeowner in the area came into the sheriff’s department, shortly after the original call, reporting an attempted burglary. That caller told authorities he returned home to find a black man wearing all black inside his home.
The homeowner told police the suspect threatened him with a gun, but no weapon was visible on the suspect.
Skrocki said the suspect in that case jumped out of a window and fled on foot.
At least two additional reports of attempted home break-ins in the Ledgestone subdivision have been reported to the sheriff’s office following the initial reports. Skrocki said the suspect in those attempted break-ins is also described as a black male wearing all black.
Hays Sheriff’s units are in the area and actively working the scene to locate the suspect.
Area residents are asked to report any suspicious persons, circumstances, noises or information to 911 immediately. The Hays County Sheriff’s Office has issued a public safety notice to area residents to remain indoors and not investigate any suspicious activity on their own.
Emergency services has sent out an alert notifying area residents of the threat in the area.
The suspect has been reportedly seen in several streets in the subdivision including Terrace Court, Ledge Stone Trail, Ridge Line Drive, Limestone Trail and Stone View Trail.
